See Gold Casket Awolowo Will Be Buried In, Artists Performing

An array of top stars has been lined up to perform during the 11-day long burial of the matriarch of the Awolowo’s family.

Musicians in the secular and gospel genres have been lined up to perform during the funeral of Mama Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo.
Topping the list of musicians to perform at different funeral points in Ikenne, include juju music maestros, King Sunny Ade and Evangelist Ebenezer Obey.
While Chief Adewale Ayuba and Wasiu Ayinde popularly known as K1 de Ultimate are representing the fuji music genre.

Gospel music genre is not left out as Tope Alabi, Bola Are and Funmi Aragbaye will be on ground to minister to the souls of guests at the funeral.
Also, those in the theatre world are also poised to give Mama HID Awolowo a befitting departure.
To lead the Association of Theatre Arts Practitioners and other selected theatre groups is the Ogunde Theatre Group as led by Ayo Ogunde. They will perform a drama sketch on the late matriarch.

Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Ogun State government, Taiwo Adeoluwa had said that the state government had chosen November 23 to honour the late HID Awolowo.
He said the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, had written invitation letters to his other 35 ‘brother governors’ across the country to come and honour “a woman who belonged to all Nigeriansat Sagamu International Stadium.
He said apart from having contracted a fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde (K1 de Ultimate) to perform at the event, there would be cultural performances from the state’s cultural troupe, and other groups from the four zones of the state -Egba, Ijebu, Remo and Yewa.

The final burial of the late matriarch runs between Sunday November 15 and Wednesday November 25. Mama HID final cloth is a white damask she had bought for the purpose over 36 years ago.
Mama Awolowo  on Saturday, September 19, as preparations for her centenary birthday were in top gear.
